FAIRHOPE, AL Our Country is in mourning for another soldier has died. 1st SGT Willie (Bill) Marshall Dorman was born on April 11, 1930 in Aynor (Horry County) S.C. and was a resident of Fairhope, AL for 38 years. He died March 22, 2011, at 80 years old due to liver Cancer. He had been fighting his battle with liver Cancer since 1991, the result of having been sprayed with Agent Orange in Vietnam. 1st SGT Dorman proudly served 25 years in the U.S. Army. He served in Panama, Germany, two tours in Korea and his last tour in Vietnam in 1971. 1st SGT Dorman taught JROTC for 17 years in Mobile County High Schools at both Mary G. Montgomery and B.C. Rain, having retired in 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Mary Dorman, and brother, Brook Dorman. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hazel Dorman of Fairhope, AL, Two daughters, Lorie (Jamie Gray) Nelson and Christie (Richard) Bettner, both of Fairhope, AL. Two grandsons, Aaron Nelson and Hunter Bettner, both of Fairhope, AL. Three granddaughters, Jessica Nelson, Alexis Bettner, and Mary (Lizzie) Bettner, all of Fairhope, AL. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Lombard, and Fran Dexter, both of Melbourne, FL, One brother, Mack (Jeannie) Dorman of Palatka, FL. Many nieces and nephews across the country including Theresa (Kenny) Wooten, Joey (Loretta) Childress, Vernon (Jo Anna) Childress, Preston (Nikki) Childress, and Chad (Melanie) Childress, who have been like our own children. Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2011, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home with interment following at Brook-Cedron in Barnwell, AL, with full military honors.
