John "J.T." Abbott

PERDIDO BEACH, AL John Thomas "J.T." Abbott passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Pensacola at the ageof 76. He was a native of Uriah, AL and a resident of Perdido Beach, AL. J.T. was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong member and deacon of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Community of Christ). J.T. retired from NADEP, Pensacola in 1989. He was active with the local Boy Scouts Programs for over forty years. J.T. was a former service officer and Vice President of NARFE chapter 1340, former President and Fire Chief of Perdido Beach Volunteer Fire Dept. and served three years as Vice President of Baldwin County Fire Chiefs Association. He is survived by his wife, Anna M. Abbott of Perdido Beach; two sons, John T. (Cecilia) Abbott, Jr. , Andrew Abbott, both of Pensacola; one sister, Betty Joyce (Gene) Gray of Toledo, OH; two brothers, Robert Cecil (MaryNell) Abbott of Daphne, William Charles (Pat) Abbott of Staunton, VA; one grandson, William Thomas (Allison) Abbott; two great grandchildren, Jordyn and Raeleigh Abbott all of Pensacola. Visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2011 from 5-7 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10 am from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held at Old Baptist Cemetery in Spanish Cove. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community of Christ Church, 5703 Muldoon Road, Pensacola, FL 32526 or Perdido Beach Volunteer Fire Dept., 8450 Escambia Avenue, Perdido Beach, AL 36530.
