Reverend W. Kenneth Hughes, Sr.

FAIRHOPE , AL Reverend W. Kenneth Hughes, Sr., age 92, a native of Lexington , KY , and a resident of Fairhope , AL since 1981, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011.   Rev. Hughes was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Navy Seabees in New Guinea and the Philippines .  He was a graduate of Transylvania University and Lexington Theological Seminary both of Lexington , KY.   He also earned a M. Ed. Degree from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg , VA. Rev. Hughes served for more than 53 years as a minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Roberta Moreno Hughes, and three children, Elizabeth Mae, W. Kenneth, Jr., and John D. Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Edwards Dale Hughes of Fairhope, daughter, Susan (Henry) Rosaly of Fairhope, sister, Betty Jean Dalton of Shortsville , NY , step sons, Barney (Eileen) Freiberg-Dale of Newton , MA , Brian (Sue) Dale of Oxford , GA , Bradley (Samantha) Dale of Birmingham , AL , step daughters, Deborah Schiller of Fairhope , AL , Donna (Robert) Evans of Jackson, MS, grandchildren, Roberta Rosaly, Connie Pizzotti, Rebecca Rosaly, Laura Rosaly, Solona, and Sabrina Freiberg-Dale, Daniel (Roshell), Jeffrey, Bathany, Michael, David, Sydney, and Lindsay Dale, Rebekah, Ian, and Hannah Schiller, Emily and Angela Evans, Eleanor ( Lowell ) Goldman, great grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Rapuano, Susanna and Stephan Davis, Hailey and Jake Pizzotti, Maia and Audrey Dale, great, great grandchild, Sophia Rosaly many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.   Funeral services will be held from the Fairhope Christian Church, Friday, February 4, 2011, at 11:00 am. Graveside services and interment will be held in Crary Memorial Cemetery , Bluff Springs , FL , Friday February 4, 2011, at 2:30pm.
