Shirley Tanner Styron

STYRON GULF SHORES, ALABAMA Shirley Tanner Styron, Age 69, a native of Mobile, AL, and a resident of Gulf Shores, AL, died on Monday, December 27, 2010 at a local hospital. She was a member of New Life In Christ Church and attended Abiding Love Fellowship. Mrs. Styron is preceded in death by her parents, Elton Tanner, Sr. and Annie Mae Trippe Tanner; a brother, Elton Tanner, Jr., and a son-in-law, Roy Canfield. She is survived by her husband, Calvert "Sonny" Styron of Gulf Shores, AL; four daughters, Carla Styron Jones (Aubry) of Theodore, AL, Patricia Styron Canfield of Gulf Shores, AL, Sharon "Sissy" Styron Becker (T.J.) of Bon Secour, AL, and Ashley "Bucky" Styron (Jeff) Cooper of Bon Secour, AL; two brothers, Howard Tanner and Joe (Pansy) Tanner ; one sister, Maxine (Ralph) Rogers all of Theodore, AL; grandchildren, Jenifer Pugh, Kimberly Beasley, Jeremy Cooper , Loren Somerset, Alyssa Cooper, Misti Whitehead, Shawnda Whitehead, Bart Whitehead, Jr., Rachael Harms, Freddie Canfield, Angie Whitehead (Bart) and Billy Canfield; great-grandchildren, Brian Pugh, Andrew Pugh, Nathan Pugh and Ryleigh Beasley; other family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 11:00am at Abiding Love Fellowship. Mrs. Styron will lie in state at the church from 10:00am until time of the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or Muscular Dystrophy Association. Interment will be in Vernant Park Cemetery.
